Hello!!! This is where we will share brief notes about what we are learning and doing  as we work on developing both reading skills and history knowledge. 

I want to share here some of the links we provide in our lesson parts to support some of the students.  We are looking to gather other resources to help all students, no matter their main language:

The links below will help you with translating tools between English and Spanish, and Arabic.

1. Audio  of a  words  in both English and Spanish. Will also translate phrases.
2. Google Search - Espana: The word can be typed in English, and the search finds results in Spanish, including images
3. Also Google Arabic is available.

4. Google Translate:Can work in any language necessary

Today we worked on learning about the Spanish American War, using similes to describe changing U.S. foreign policy from isolation, to expansionism, to  imperialism.

Here is work one student did:

During expansionism, the Spain was like a virus because the Spanish were moving and spreading throughout Cuba. ____

• During Imperialism, industrialism was as cruel as a shark because big industry was trying to eliminate smaller organizations to gain more money and popularity.___________

Here is what another student said:

A country during Expansionism ) is like __A bird that's starving looking for food on the ground.

Still another said:
A country during (Isolationism, Expansionism or Imperialism) is like a rubber band because during expansionism the land expands like a rubber band.
